英語で縦横斜めは、
- 縦：vertical
- 横：horizontal
- 斜め：diagonal
写真の縦横も「vertical／horizontal」が使えますが、「portrait／landscape」も使えます。
英語で写真の縦向き・横向き
英語で写真の縦か横は、
- 縦方向：vertical／portrait
- 横方向：horizontal／landscape
を使います。
「vertical（縦）／horizontal（横）」はわかりますが、「portrait」と「landscape」？
「portrait」といえばまず思い浮かぶのは「肖像画」。
「landscape」といえば「風景画」。ですが、辞書で調べてみると、
- portrait（名）肖像画、肖像写真、縦方向、縦長書式
- landscape（名）景色、風景、風景画、風景写真、横方向、横長書式
とあるので「portrait」と「landscape」は、写真や印刷の向きを表すこともできるんですねぇ。
- portrait mode：縦向き印刷
- landscape mode：横向き印刷
という意味なんです。
- Would you like your document to be printed in portrait or landscape?
（書類の印刷は縦向きと横向きのどちらにしますか？）
英語で写真を横向き・縦向きで撮ってほしい
英語で写真を横向き、もしくは縦向きで撮って欲しい時は、
＜縦向き＞
- Could you take the picture vertically?
- Can you please take the picture portrait?
＜横向き＞
- Could you take the picture horizontally?
- Can you please take the picture landscape?
のように言います。
ちなみにスマートフォンの画面の向きも「portrait／landscape」でいえます。
スマホの向きを縦から横にして欲しいときは、
- Please rotate your smartphone from portrait to landscape.
（スマホの向きを縦から横にしてもらえますか？）
シンプルに向きをかえてくださいと、
- Could you please turn it the other way?
（撮る向きを変えてもらえますか？）
でも伝わりますね。
スマホを横向きにして欲しいというときは「sideways」も使えます。
- Could you take it sideways?
（横向きで撮ってくれますか？） - Please take it sideways.
（横向きにしてください。）
英語フレーズ「写真を撮ってもらえますか？」
旅行先などで写真を撮って欲しいときに使える英語フレーズ。
- Would you mind taking a photo for us?
- Could you please take a photo of me?
- Can you please take our photo?
- Do you mind taking a photo of us?
- Do you mind taking our photo?
全部意味としては「写真を撮ってもらえますか？」
どんな風に撮って欲しいかを伝えるのに、覚えてお期待フレーズ。
＜何かと一緒に撮ってほしい＞
- Could you take a picture of me with the Eiffel Tower?
（私とエッフェル塔一緒に写真を撮ってもらえませんか？ - I hope to get the entire church in the photo.
（あの教会を入れてもらえませんか？）
＜真ん中に＞
- Could you please put me in the center of the picture?
（私を写真の真ん中にくるように撮ってもらえませんか？）
＜全体を入れる＞
- I hope to get the entire church in the photo.
（あの教会全体を写真に入れてもらえませんか？）
＜まばたきしちゃった＞
- Sorry, but I just blinked… can you take another one, please?
（すみません、今目をまばたきをしたので、もう一枚撮ってもらえますか？ - Sorry! I think I was looking away… could you please take one more for me?
（すみません、今他の所を見ちゃったので、もう一枚撮ってもらえますか？）
英語で「写真を撮りましょうか？」
逆に「写真を撮ってあげましょうか？」とこちらから声をかけるフレーズ。
- Would you like me to take your picture?
- Would you like me to take a photo for you?
- Do you want me to take a photo?
- Would you like me to press the button for you?
ちなみに「Shall I 〜?」は相手と一緒に何かをしようというときに使われるので、この場面では使われないんです。
写真を撮ってもいいか聞く
お店などで写真を撮りたいときに、写真を撮ってもいいか許可を確認したい時は、
- Can I take a picture?
- Can I take some pictures?
（写真撮ってもいいですか？）
でOK。
丁寧に聞くなら
- May I take a picture?
SNSなどにあげてもいいかを聞くときは、
- May I post the picture on the internet like Instagram?
（この写真、インスタグラムに載せてもよろしいですか？） - Can I post this picture on social media?
（SNSに載せても大丈夫ですか？）
SNSは「social media」と言います。
海外だとわりとどこでも写真OKな感じですが、念の為、撮ってはダメなものがないかも確認したい場合は、
- Is there anything that can not be shown in the picture?
（撮っちゃいけないものありますか？）
と尋ねます。
