予定が変更したり、いくつか予定が重なるとつい時間を間違えること、ありますよね。
わざとではないんです、ついうっかり時間や日にちを間違えてしまったと英語で言う時は、
- I got the dates mixed up.
と言います。
get mixed up：混乱する
「get mixed up」は、「頭が混乱する」という意味。
「mix」は日本語でも使われるけど、「混ぜ合わせる」。
「mix up」で「よく混ぜ合わせる、ごちゃごちゃにする、混同する、混乱させる」という意味なので、
- get mixed up：頭が混乱する
ということですね。
ちなみに「get mixed up」には、「（悪事に）関係する、（良くない人と）関わり合いになる、（良からぬことに）巻き添えを食う、巻き込まれる」という意味もあります。
- I don’t want to get mixed up in nothing.
（やばい事には巻き込まれたくないんだ。）
I got the dates mixed up.
- get＋間違えたもの＋mixed up
と「get 〜 mixed up」の間に間違えたものを入れることもできます。
ちなみに、この間に入る名詞は、正しい方と間違えた方と混同した「2つ」のものを指しているので複数形になります。
- I got the dates mixed up.
（日にちを間違えた。） - I got the times mixed up.
（時間を間違えた。） - I got the places mixed up.
（場所を間違えた。） - I got the streets mixed up.
（道を間違えた。） - I got the restaurants mixed up.
（レストランを間違えた。）
間違えた時は、すでに相手を待たせてるので、もうごめんなさいとセットで覚えちゃいましょう。
- I’m sorry I’m late. I got the dates mixed up.
（遅れてごめん！日にちを間違えてた！）
「mix up」も「cofuse」と同じ意味なので、
- I mixed up the time.
（時間を勘違いしてた。）
とも言えます。
make a mistake：ミスをする
シンプルに「間違えた、ミスをした」という感じで
- make a mistake
も使えます。
- I made a mistake about the time.
（時間を間違えてました。） - I made a mistake with our class time.
（私は授業の時間を間違えてしまいました。） - I’m sorry, I’ve made a mistake with the schedule for the meeting.
（すみません。会議のスケジュールを間違えてました。） - He must have made a mistake with the schedule.
（彼はスケジュールを勘違いしているに違いない。）
「時間を間違えた」の他の言い方
- I am so sorry I got the wrong time.
- I am so sorry I had the wrong time.
（すみません！時間を間違えました。）
※wrong timeで間違った時間 - I misunderstood the time.
（時間を勘違いした。）
※misunderstand：誤解する
